Written steps (text version of this video)

This walkthrough shows how to add questions to your campaign’s application form, screen out readers who can’t meet your review date, preview the form and save a new version.

  1. Open the application form.

Open your campaign and select the Form tab. Once the campaign is published, its form is live.

  2. Check what every application includes.

Name, email, review profiles, content warnings and the three participation agreements are always included.

  3. Add a question.

Under Add a question, choose a type: Short text, Long text, URL, Single choice, Multiple choice, Required consent or Screening question. Your changes go into an unpublished draft.

  4. Write the question.

Select the pencil icon to edit the label. Tick Required question if needed, then select Save question.

  5. Add a screening question.

Add a Screening question and choose which answer ends the form. If a reader submits the form with that answer, they see your message and no application is created.

  6. Save the screening question.

Readers who choose the other answer carry on with their application. Screening questions are always required.

  7. Change the order.

Drag questions by the handle, or use the arrow buttons, to change their order.

  8. Preview the form.

Select Preview form to check the draft. The preview can't be submitted.

  9. Save a new version.

Select Save new version. It's live for new applications; existing applications keep their original questions and answers.

  10. See the live form.

After the participation agreements, the public form offers optional emails from you: future ARC invitations and your reader list. Both are unticked, and readers can apply without them.

  11. Next steps.

You can add up to twenty questions and save a new version at any time.

Check you’re done

  • Your questions are saved in the order you want.
  • You have checked the draft with Preview form.
  • Your new form version is saved and live for new applications to your published campaign.
