Organise My ARCs with your own tags, follow authors and join their mailing lists.

  1. Keep your ARCs organised and your favourite authors close.
  2. In this video, you'll use tags, follow an author and join their mailing list.
  3. Open My ARCs in the sidebar.
  4. The tabs split your ARCs into Awaiting decision, Active and Completed.
  5. Your newest active ARC is at the top, with the date the author would like your review by.
  6. Select Open my book.
  7. Further down, Your tags lets you organise your books your way.
  8. Only you can see your tags. Authors never see them, and they don't change your participation.
  9. Select Add tag. You start with four tags: To read, Currently reading, Read and Favourites.
  10. Choose one, or type a new name to create a tag, then select Add tag.
  11. A book can have up to five tags, and a tag stays with the book in all your ARCs.
  12. To take a tag off this book, use the cross beside it.
  13. Back in My ARCs, choose a tag and select Apply to see only those books.
  14. The tag filter works together with the tabs, and their counts follow it.
  15. Manage tags opens your Tags page. Create a new tag here, or rename or delete the ones you have.
  16. Deleting a tag removes it from your books, but the books stay in My ARCs.
  17. Now, your favourite authors. Select Authors at the top of the page and open an author's page.
  18. Select Follow author. The author is saved to your Following page.
  19. Following doesn't send you emails: to get an author's book news by email, join their mailing list.
  20. Select Join mailing list and read the note.
  21. The author gets your name and email address, and may email you book news from their own email service.
  22. Select Join mailing list again to confirm.
  23. Hamsterra emails you a confirmation. You can leave the list at any time on the author's page or from your email preferences.
  24. If the author already emails you, unsubscribe from their emails too.
  25. Back on the author's page, select Following at the top.
  26. You'll see the authors you follow, with any campaigns they have open right now.
  27. Select View campaign to see the details, or Following to stop following an author.
  28. Next, get free books from authors' reader magnets and group giveaways.

This walkthrough shows how to find your ARCs in My ARCs, sort them with private tags, follow an author, join their mailing list and see the authors you follow.

  1. Open My ARCs in the sidebar.

    ARCs you apply for while signed in appear here.

  2. Use the tabs.

    Awaiting decision, Active and Completed. Your newest active ARC is at the top; select Open my book.

  3. Find Your tags on the book page.

    Only you can see your tags; authors never see them.

    Select Add tag, choose a tag or type a new name, then select Add tag.

  5. Up to five tags per book.

    A tag stays with the book in all your ARCs. The cross beside a tag takes it off the book.

    In My ARCs, choose a tag and select Apply. The tag filter works with the tabs.

    Select Manage tags to create, rename or delete tags. Deleting a tag doesn't remove any books.

  8. Open an author's page.

    Select Authors at the top of the page and choose an author.

    Select Follow author. Following doesn't send emails.

  10. Join the mailing list.

    Select Join mailing list to get the author's book news by email. The author gets your name and email address.

  11. Check the confirmation email.

    Leave the list at any time on the author's page or from your email preferences. If the author already emails you, unsubscribe from their emails too.

    See the authors you follow and their open campaigns.

Check you’re done

  • Your chosen tags appear on your book.
  • The tag filter in My ARCs shows the books you selected.
  • The author you followed appears in Following.
  • If you joined the mailing list, the author’s page confirms your membership.

Common questions

Can authors see my tags?

No. Only you can see your tags, and they do not change your participation.

Will deleting a tag remove my books?

No. Deleting a tag removes it from your books, but the books stay in My ARCs.

Does following an author subscribe me to emails?

No. Following saves the author to Following. Join their mailing list separately if you want their book news by email.
